2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: Your name and university email address, provided via Google OAuth sign-in. We require a .edu email to verify campus enrollment.
  • Profile information: Optional bio and Venmo handle that you provide in your profile settings.
  • Item submissions: Title, description, category, photos, pickup location, and preferred pickup date and time for items you submit for resale.
  • Payment information: Purchase transactions are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details — Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance.
  • Usage data: Basic usage information such as listing views, generated automatically when you use the platform.
  • Messages:Content of messages sent through the platform's chat feature between buyers and sellers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Verify your enrollment at a supported university
  • Coordinate item pickups and communicate with you about your submissions
  • List and sell your items on your behalf as part of the consignment service
  • Send you payout information and process Venmo payments
  • Display your listings and seller information to potential buyers on campus
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • Improve the platform and troubleshoot issues

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Google OAuth: Used for authentication. Google may collect data per their Privacy Policy when you sign in.
  • Stripe: Processes all payments. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant and handles payment card data independently from us.
  • MongoDB Atlas: Cloud database where your account and listing data is stored. Data is stored in the United States.
  • Venmo: Used to send payout payments to sellers. Your Venmo handle is stored in your profile and used solely for issuing payouts.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate operational purposes such as resolving disputes or completing pending transactions.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Withdraw consent to processing where consent is the basis

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption in transit and secure cloud storage. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

QuadCommerce is intended for university students aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the platform. Continued use of QuadCommerce after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
